Indiana State University offers more than 50 graduate degree programs, including master's, educational specialist, and doctoral degrees. Within the department, our graduate degrees are designed to provide flexible options for educators to advance their knowledge and skills in the areas of curriculum, instruction, research, and leadership.

Teaching and Learning (M.Ed.)

The Master of Education Degree is currently undergoing revision.  Beginning in Fall 2023, students will complete a 30-credit, fully-online graduate program that includes a 21-credit core and 9 credits of electives.  The program is designed to work efficiently with the coursework from our Transition to Teaching[SP1]  or add-on licensure[SP2]  programs.  We also welcome students who want to expand their knowledge and skills at the graduate level without pursuing additional licenses or certifications.  Here is a summary of the proposed coursework:

• EPSY 621 Development Through the Lifespan
• EDUC 660 Curriculum Fundamentals
• CIMT 650 Classroom Management or SPED 602 Positive Supports for Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Development
• ELED 532 Early Childhood: Teaching Within a Diverse Society or SPED 607 Diversity and Disability in Today’s Schools
• EDUC 611 Measurement and Evaluation in Education or SPED 627 Methods in Special Education
• EDUC 775 Action Research in Education

Electives (9 credits)

Selected in consultation with the academic advisor.  Common choices may focus on elementary, secondary, special education, teaching English as a second language, or assessment and evaluation.
